At Bonebakker Jeweller, we are sincerely delighted by brands that inspire us — and Maison Repossi did that from the very first moment. This special house knows how to combine heritage and innovation in an elegant and surprisingly modern way. It is a great pleasure to present their creations in Amsterdam to everyone who loves refined, contemporary luxury. And the 40th anniversary of the brand even has a Dutch touch!
International break-through in Monaco
Repossi was founded in 1957 by Costantino Repossi in Turin, Italy. In 1974, the founder’s son, Alberto Repossi, took over the management of the company. He moved to Monte Carlo, where he opened the first store outside Italy in 1978. The boutique on the Monte Carlo promenade quickly attracted an international and royal clientele, and Alberto was appointed official supplier to the Monegasque court. Among other things, he designed the engagement ring that Prince Albert of Monaco gave to his future bride, Charlène.
Place Vendôme Prestige
In 1986, a second international store followed, at the prestigious 6 Place Vendôme in Paris. It became clear there that this was not a jewellery house that only wanted to preserve tradition — but rather wanted to reshape it. We recognise that courage, that forward-thinking, at Bonebakker. From the first collections, Repossi’s designs radiate timelessness, balanced with an almost architectural design.
Gaia Repossi: new vision, same soul
In 2007, Gaia Repossi took over the artistic direction as the third generation. Her background in art history and archaeology is immediately noticeable: she designs jewellery that is sculptural and graphic, yet light and wearable.
For us at Bonebakker, it is a pleasure to introduce customers to her vision. Anyone who sees the jewellery immediately feels the power of minimalism — and how a piece of jewellery can simultaneously be modern, sensual, and subtle
Jewellery that feels like a second skin
Repossi is known for designs that are powerful and comfortable. Think of the iconic ear cuffs that Gaia set an international trend with. Or rings in which diamonds seem to float thanks to the innovative Serti sur Vide setting — a technique that we proudly explain in our salon every time. The use of black gold, a deep-hued ruthenium finish on 18-carat white gold, is also typical of Repossi.
Repossi meets Dutch Design
All Repossi jewellery is handcrafted in Italian ateliers with which the house has been collaborating for over forty years. You can see and feel that long-term collaboration: each piece tells a story of precision, dedication, and vision.
For Repossi’s 40th anniversary on Place Vendôme, the house sought collaboration with Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis. In 2016, she had already collaborated with her partner Rem Koolhaas (OMA) on the redesign of the ground floor of Repossi’s Boutique at 6 Place Vendôme. Marcelis’s clear lines, her play with light, and her modern use of materials align beautifully with the world of Repossi. That this creative crosspollination took place with a Dutch designer, in particular, makes us especially happy. It confirms how naturally Repossi occupies its place in our Amsterdam collection.
