Wearing one amazing ring is sometimes simply not enough. That is exactly why ring stacking has become so loved: wearing several rings on one hand, or even on one finger. Why settle for one signature when different layers can say so much more? The rings from the Boucheron Quatre-collectie capture that layered feeling, with several distinctive bands brought together in one design. A multi-finger ring is designed to be worn across several fingers at once, making it a slightly bolder alternative to stacking rings. As well as expressing beauty and individuality, the double ring has another advantage: its design can move beyond all the traditional boundaries. As statement rings, they claim a distinctive place of their own within haute joaillerie.
Rather than wearing several separate rings together, all the extravagance is captured in a single design. Two or more ring bands are connected and extend across several fingers. The result is endless self-expression.

Just like ring stacking, the effect can be bold and colourful, but also surprisingly open and light. In the Messika My Twin-Trilogy ring in 18-carat white gold, the three 0.25-carat diamonds—pear-shaped, emerald-cut and oval—appear to float between the fingers. Thanks to the almost invisible setting, the diamonds have every opportunity to shine.

Attention-seeking rings

A ring that extends across several fingers, or has elements positioned between them, can also attract attention in a more understated way. Alessandra Dona has created several rings based on this concept, featuring either a Southsea pearl or a Tahitian pearl .

But it can also be a little more striking. One dazzling example is the Repossi Serti Sur Vide diamond ring. Repossi’s Serti Sur Vide technique, literally meaning ‘set in the void’, creates a sense of openness in a double-band ring that follows the contour of the finger without fully enclosing it.

Serti Sur Vide designs make diamonds appear almost weightless as they float above the skin. “A double Serti Sur Vide ring elongates the hand and finger, creating a highly graceful and elegant floating effect with every movement,” says creative director Gaia Repossi of the ring set with six asymmetrical pear-shaped diamonds, created to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the brand’s boutique on Place Vendôme in Paris.

The ring as a piece of hand jewelry

With lines extending across several fingers or even the entire hand, the hand itself becomes an expression of individuality. Gemstones are no longer arranged traditionally around a single focal point. They can be placed across the hand, set asymmetrically or made to appear as though they are floating just above the skin.
